Palo Alto–based Eudia, a venture-backed legal AI company, has officially opened a new law firm in Arizona under the state’s alternative business structure (ABS) program.

The firm, Eudia Counsel LLC, will bring together lawyers and Eudia’s AI platform to support corporate clients with contracting, M&A due diligence, and other complex legal needs. This marks a significant step in Arizona’s push to reimagine the legal services industry.

Why It Matters

Arizona remains the only U.S. state with permanent changes to law firm ownership rules, allowing non-lawyers to co-own firms with court approval. This has positioned the state as a proving ground for innovative legal business models.

Eudia joins the ranks of KPMG, Axiom, LegalZoom, and Elevate, all of which have launched affiliated firms under these loosened regulations. For clients, the potential upside is lower costs and more efficiency—especially at a time when traditional law firm billing rates continue to rise.

Backed by Major Funding and Clients

Founded in 2023, Eudia launched earlier this year with a $105 million funding round led by General Catalyst. Its customer base already includes DHL, Duracell, Cargill, Intuit, Stripe, and the U.S. government.

With the launch of Eudia Counsel, the company aims to take on traditional firms directly—arguing that AI-powered tools should make legal work faster and more cost-effective, benefits that should be passed down to clients.

Arizona Leading the Way

While states like Utah have experimented with similar reforms through pilot programs, Arizona is the national leader in legal industry innovation. For startups like Eudia, the state offers a regulatory environment that enables bold experimentation at the intersection of law and technology.

At Silicon Oasis, we’re watching closely as Arizona becomes the hub for legal-tech disruption—another signal that the state is emerging as one of the most forward-thinking innovation ecosystems in the country.
