An attorney with nearly 20 years of experience with technology law and cybersecurity matters announced Wednesday he hasjoined the leadership team at Eudia, an artificial intelligence platform for in-house legal teams.
Former Seyfarth Shaw LLP partner Richard Lutkus wrote in a LinkedIn post Wednesday that he is now a principal advisor atEudia, a technology company based in Silicon Valley. Lutkus moved to the startup after four years with business managementconsulting company AlixPartners.
Eudia sells software for chief legal officers and in-house legal departments that help manage operations and monitor risk andcompliance. The company offers an AI platform that it says is overseen by human advisers. In his social media post, Lutkus saidEudia's augmented intelligence software will build a more efficient model to help clients.
"Billing by time is a legacy model. Consumers of legal services want results with predictable cost," he wrote. And those providing legal services "can'tscale beyond the limits of time, and are not incentivized to be efficient," the post continued.
Lutkus could not be reached for additional comment. Eudia CEO Omar Haroun did not respond to a request for comment.
Lutkus' addition to Eudia's team came months after the company secured about $105 million in Series A funding. The startup is planning to use theproceeds to enhance its product offerings and expand its customer base.
After earning his law degree from Creighton University School of Law, Lutkus joined Carroll & Truesdale PC in Orland Park, Illinois, as an associate. Hemoved in-house as general counsel for Professional Associates LLC, then went back to private practice in October 2008 as a partner in Seyfarth's SanFrancisco office.
